John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum has the honor of being America’s First Urban National Wildlife Refuge, which was established to protect Pennsylvania’s largest remaining tidal marsh and provide environmental education. The refuge strives to provide environmental education, engage communities in conservation action, and breakdown transportation barriers to green spaces in Philadelphia.
This center offers binoculars and fishing rods on loan to visitors and offers magnificent wildlife viewing.
