Saturday, April 18
9am to Noon
Tookany Creek Parkway and Central Ave trail head
Tookany Creek Trail Fest is Cheltenham’s kickoff to spring and Earth Day week activities, and will be held on the official Opening Day for Trails on April 18, 2020! This event will be held along Tookany Creek Trail at the trail-head near the Tookany Creek Parkway and Central Avenue parking lot in Cheltenham.
Sponsored by Cheltenham’s Environmental Advisory Council and their partners, the Tookany Tacony Frankford Watershed Partnership, Wyncote Audubon Society, Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the Cuicuit Trails, the day’s activities will include a park clean-up, self-guided hikes, bird walks, raffles/give-aways, refreshments and more!
Come also to learn more about the Tookany Creek Trail Feasibility Study in progress. The study will determine the feasibility of constructing a new trail in some places and upgrading the existing trail in other locations. The Trail, which will form an important part of “The Circuit,” the 800-mile long network of trail being developed in Philadelphia and vicinity, will be studied to meet Circuit standards for a multi-use pedestrian and bicycle trail. The Trail will also be examined for compliance with standards of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). This study is funded by a Regional Trails Program grant from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Cheltenham residents, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to attend the Trail Fest and share their thoughts for this community amenity.
