Seeds of Dissent Tour: The North Mile Old and New

Saturday, November 10th

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

PAST EVENT

The Garden has long been a place for the exchange of ideas. In the 18th and 19thcentury, notable persons in the fields of art and science gathered here at this garden to walk its grounds and discuss abstract ideas and the issues of their time. The Garden was a place of ideas and imagination – where the passing of the seasons and the intimate connection to the tides could spark inspiration and creativity. Join us this season as we explore the land through new lenses and with new teachers. Arrive ready to contribute to the conversation.

The North Mile with Starr Herr Cardillo and Joel Fry: Old and New

Starr Herr Cardillo has been researching the area of the Lower Schuylkill along with Bartram’s curator, Joel Fry, over the last year. Join them on a walk to the site of the new swing bridge crossing to discuss the changes that have happened on the site over time, what once stood in the area and what now remains.
