In the 18th and 19thcentury, notable persons in the fields of art and science gathered here at this garden to walk its grounds and discuss abstract ideas and the issues of their time. The Garden was a place of ideas and imagination – where the passing of the seasons and the intimate connection to the tides could spark inspiration and creativity. The North Mile with Starr Herr Cardillo and Joel Fry: Old and New
Starr Herr Cardillo has been researching the area of the Lower Schuylkill along with Bartram’s curator, Joel Fry, over the last year. Join them on a walk to the site of the new swing bridge crossing to discuss the changes that have happened on the site over time, what once stood in the area and what now remains.
