Saturday, June 1st
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Cosponsors: Robert Wood Johnson Hospital – Hamilton & Friends for the Abbott Marshlands. Other cosponsors vary with location and include: Tulpehaking Nature Center, D&R Canal State Park, Bordentown Twp. Environmental Commission, and Washington Crossing Audubon Society.
The objectives are to improve wellness by experiencing the out-of-doors – views of freshwater tidal creeks, flocks of red-winded blackbirds, spring wild flowers, tall tulip trees, umbrella magnolias, beaver, wintering ducks, all often under blue skies. The varied landscape offers a seasonal progression of opportunities to see the diverse organisms that call the Abbott Marshlands home or that visit as they migrate. Migrants may travel great distances: going to South America (e.g, orchard oriole) for winter and north to the Arctic Circle during summer (e.g., tree sparrow). Knowledgeable guides enhance the walkers understanding of the natural and cultural resources found here, providing opportunities to explore trails.
All walks: 10-noon. Drizzle will not cancel. Cancellations will be announced on the www.abbottmarshlands.org calendar by 9 am the day of the walk.
