All weekend we’re setting up special Collection Bins for certain tough-to-recycle items. Bring your chip bags, juice pouches and other listed items in exchange for a special gift from the nature center. Stop inside for hands-on DIY projects for turning old items into new treasures. This program is free. Hours are as followed.
Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m.
Below is the list of accepted items:
1.) Juice Pouches – CapriSun: Discard the straw and flatten pouch to press out any remaining juice. *Rinse if sticky.
2.) Personal Care – Tubes and/or bottles: Lotion, shampoo, conditioner, makeup, mascara, sunblock, disposable shavers, etc. Lids and caps as well. *Rinse out containers or tubes of lotion.
3.) Oral Care: Toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, detail floss dispensers, mouthwash bottles and rinses.
4.) Snack Foods: Plastic bags and wrappers form candy, chips, pretzels, cookies, energy bars, etc. *No cardboard or plastic/paper fused packaging.
5.) #6 Cups, #6 Clamshell Packaging, #6 Condiment cups and lids: Any plastic cups (solo cups) or single serve condiments (from takeout) cups with the #6 inside the recycling symbol, clamshell (#6) packaging. Also acceptable are the cookie trays inside the packages if they are #6.
6.) Water Filters: Britta, or any other manufacturer. Old/broken water pitchers and lids are also acceptable.
7.) Pet Food Packaging: Plastic pet food or pet treat bags. *Please, no cardboard, paper/plastic fused bags or cans.
8.) Cereal Bags & Cracker sleeves and/or inner bags: Plastic cereal bags and/or the plastic inner bags found inside cereal and cracker cardboard boxes. *No boxes please.
9.) Cleaners: Cleaning or laundry bottles, spray cleaning bottles, dishwashing detergent bottles, packaging from dishwasher or laundry capsules, wrappers from paper napkin packs, toilet paper or paper towel multipacks, packaging from personal wipes, baby wipes, diapers (baby or adult). *No metal cans please.
